Founded in 1907 by Joel Russ, a Jewish immigrant from Poland, the beloved shop began as a humble pushcart & opened its first storefront on the Lower East Side in 1914. Today, the historic East Houston Street location remains a landmark, celebrated for its world-class Jewish delicacies & enduring tradition.
