Buying a jewelry cleaning solution specifically created for gold is the safest choice for taking care of your pieces, but here’s our favorite at-home option:
Mix a bit of dish detergent in warm, not hot, water
Carefully brush with a new, soft toothbrush
Place in lukewarm water to rinse.
Air dry or carefully towel-dry with a paper towel or regular cloth

DIAMONDS AND PRECIOUS GEMSTONES:
Various gemstones have different properties. This means that some will require different care than others.
Diamonds are forever but they attract oil and grease. Soak in a bowl with warm water and a gentle degreasing dishwashing soap for about 30 minutes. Once this is done use a clean, soft toothbrush to remove any remaining dirt. You can also use steam.
Emerald, Aquamarine, Garnet, Peridot, Sapphire, and Tourmaline are known for their beautiful colors- all you need is warm soapy water and a very soft brush.
Lapis Lazuli and Turquoise are porous stones that should not be cleaned with soap or soaked in water. Wipe them with a damp cloth and dry immediately with another lint-free cloth.
Opal and Ruby can be very delicate stones compared to others. Only use lukewarm water and a soft jewelry brush
