For over 50 years, Heller has enabled leading designers to create innovative products using new technologies. Founded in 1971, its first product was a stacking dinnerware line by Massimo Vignelli, which won a Compasso d’Oro and is part of the Museum of Modern Art's collection.

Heller launched its furniture division in 1998 with the Bellini Chair by Mario Bellini, which also won a Compasso d’Oro in 2001. The company has collaborated with renowned designers including Massimo & Lella Vignelli, Philippe Starck, Vico Magistretti, William Sawaya, and Frank Gehry.

Lella and Massimo Vignelli were a dynamic design duo known for their minimalist approach and timeless aesthetic. Founded in New York City in 1960, their firm, Vignelli Associates, produced iconic work across various disciplines, including graphic design, product design, and interior design. Their influential designs, such as the New York City subway map and the branding for major companies, continue to inspire generations of designers.

Debuting in 1964, their Max tableware won the prestigious Compasso d’Oro for its innovative design.

In the late 1960s, founder Alan Heller discovered the Vignellis’ compact stacking dinnerware in a museum. After learning the original manufacturer had closed, he sought out the duo to revive it, marking the start of a remarkable partnership.
